Orland Hills is the smallest community we serve regularly and one of the densest. The village covers just 1.15 square miles with 6,893 residents as of the 2020 census, which works out to roughly 6,000 people per square mile, several times the density of Homer Glen or Mokena. It incorporated on June 30, 1961 under the name Westhaven and sits wedged between Orland Park to the west and Tinley Park to the east.

Small, dense, and family heavy. That combination shows up directly in what this village books, and spring is by a wide margin our busiest season here.

Why Spring Is So Concentrated in Orland Hills

Orland Hills students attend Community Consolidated School District 135 for elementary and middle school and Consolidated High School District 230 for high school. District 230 runs three schools: Carl Sandburg at 13300 South LaGrange Road in Orland Park, Amos Alonzo Stagg in Palos Hills, and Victor J. Andrew at 171st Street and 90th Avenue, which serves families across Orland Hills and Tinley Park.

Andrew alone enrolls well over 2,000 students. Sandburg enrolls more than 2,800. When those schools schedule proms, graduations, and awards banquets across the same handful of April and May weekends, every limo, party bus, and coach in the south suburbs is spoken for. That is not a scarcity tactic, it is simply what the calendar does.

The practical consequence: book eight to twelve weeks out. Families who call in February get the vehicle they wanted. Families who call in April choose from whatever is left.

The Village Layout Affects Your Pickup

Orland Hills at just over one square mile is essentially all residential subdivision, built around Lake Ashbourne, Lake Lorin, and Kelly Park. The streets are typical suburban curves and cul de sacs rather than a grid.

What that means when you book:

A stretch limo or Sprinter is straightforward at almost any address in the village.

A 30 passenger party bus needs a look at the street. Some of the tighter cul de sacs do not give a Freightliner room to turn around, and the last thing anyone wants on prom night is a driver reversing 200 feet with an audience. When you book, tell us the address, and if it is tight we will suggest a nearby pickup point, usually a park lot, a school lot, or the wider entrance road into the subdivision.

A coach bus almost always stages elsewhere. For graduation parties or large group events, designate a lot. Kelly Park, a church lot, or a commercial lot along 159th Street all work better than a residential street.

Consolidate pickups. Because the village is small, gathering the group at one or two homes rather than six is easy here in a way it is not in Homer Glen, and it saves you real money on an hourly booking. Two stops is manageable. Six is an hour of your booking spent idling in driveways.

The Safety Questions Parents Should Ask

This is the part of the conversation that matters more than the vehicle, and any legitimate operator will answer without hesitation.

Alcohol policy for groups including minors. Any vehicle carrying passengers under 21 is a dry vehicle. No alcohol, no exceptions. This is the law and it is a condition of commercial insurance. A company that is vague here is telling you something important.

Chauffeur screening. Ask whether drivers are commercially licensed, background checked, and drug tested, and whether the driver stays with the vehicle for the entire booking. The answer should be yes to all of it. Our chauffeur service standards cover conduct, appearance, and passenger safety.

Licensing and insurance. Ask for proof. We are licensed and fully insured and we will confirm coverage before you book.

Itinerary control. Agree on the route in writing: pickup addresses, photo stop, dinner, venue, after event, drop off. We do not take route changes from students mid trip without confirmation from the adult who made the booking.

Parent as primary contact. Put a parent’s cell on the reservation, not a student’s. If anything changes, dispatch calls you.

Drop off plan. Decide in advance whether students go to one address or to their own homes. Individual drop offs cost more and many parents consider it money well spent.

Choosing a Vehicle

Stretch limousine, 10 to 18 passengers. Our MKT stretch seats 10 and our Hummer stretch seats 18. Classic look, best for photos. Remember that formal wear takes room. Ten students in gowns and tuxes in a 10 passenger limo is snug, so consider sizing up.

Sprinter party bus, 14 passengers. Perimeter seating, sound, and lighting in a vehicle that still fits comfortably on a residential street. This is the most popular Orland Hills prom booking we run.

Graduation parties. Shuttling family from hotels in Orland Park and Tinley Park to a backyard party or a banquet hall. A Sprinter or a small coach handles it.
